HOSHI

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

If you've been in the SessRin fandom, there's no way you could not have come across one of Hoshi's captivating fanfiction stories or the amazing art that she seems to create frequently. What keeps someone like Hoshi inspired to create so much? Fortunately, she was gracious enough to answer that question and many more.

What inspires you when writing?

I usually take inspiration from a lot of things: music, series, movies, mangas, and manhwas... even the news reports at some points, haha. I take little fragments of said source and create a scene that later develops and connects with other scenes until I have a lineal idea for a plot.

Do you have a favorite fan-fiction or SessRin art?

A lot! Though my main four stories up until now are "Reecnuentro" by Bar, "Negocio Porhibidos" by SamanthaBlue, "A Glass Half Full" by xxObsessedxx and "Memoirs by XeraQ which is sadly incomplete but still a super interesting fic.

Regarding art... I can't choose a single one. Anything that comes out of the hands of Milk, Gaby, Kay, SaltMango, and all of the wonderful artists of the fandom is amazing.

What is your favorite SessRin moment?

I have three: When they meet, the second time Rin is brought back to life, and when Rin's curse is lifted in Yashahime. I melt whenever we see Sesshomaru's gentle side.

Do you have advice for any new authors or artists?

You don't need to rush or need to be perfect. Take your time doing what you love; before you publish anything, leave it for a couple of days and do a fresh retake. You may find some little details you can improve. And, of course, practice. Get comfortable with your words or strokes. Take references, and check the styles of other writers or artists; they're a wonderful source of inspiration.

Which of your stories is your favorite?

I have my top two. First, "Grabado en Piedra" Since I feel it's an interesting and complete story, even it it's a little short. I think my writing skills are way better here than in other works.

And second, "Safe Haven". It's my longest and most complex story, even if it's plagued with mistakes and it's not the best thing out there. I still had a blast figuring out the plot. I still can't believe I pulled that one off haha.

Thank you very much for your time Hoshi! Also, I think your stories are awesome, and I love your art! I know that many others feel the same.
